Space speed painting

Decided to start practice some speed painting in photoshop. Here is an attempt at a small space scene.

So preparing for our big portrait drawing project, we are drawing skull in whichever medium we choose. I used graphite, but I think I may redo it in charcoal. We had to copy a picture the prof. gave us and enlarge it.

charcoal and white stuff on colored paper

We got to use white charcoal on colored paper the first time. I really like it because it makes creating highlight and shadows soooo much easier since the paper is your midtone.

Drapery

First attempt at a charcoal drapery drawing. It's pretty difficult to make it look right. Going to have to try this again.

Gorilla Reversal

    Decided to try drawing a gorilla with charcoal. Thought it would be pretty easy, but I was mistaken. The hair is difficult with charcoal, and there are so many wrinkles and things. I'm thinking since I'm a beginner at this I should start with something a little simpler.
